JB Music Therapy continues to provide online and in-person sessions post-COVID. Remaining accessible and ensuring the health of our clients is our top priority. Music therapists are considered a non-restricted healthcare service in Alberta and continue to be an essential part of your health and well-being.
Our team has been working virtually and seeing a large percentage of our clients online over this last year.
We have adapted our offices with the best tech, lighting, and interventions that work successfully online. We understand that some organizations and individuals will continue to meet us in this environment and we look forward to seeing you there.
As we return to in-person music therapy sessions there are other considerations — and we are taking each of them very seriously.
Primary Considerations and Next Steps. We are:
- fully vaccinated as of September 24, 2021.
- following our national and provincial guidelines for our profession.
- following the policies of the organizations we serve and making additional suggestions specific to music therapy.
- keeping an ear to the ground. We understand that during times of continuous new information, (like post-COVID) policies and procedures will continue to change.
- following all public health guidelines set out by the Ministry for healthcare workers including: masking as required, isolation and quarantine if required.
- completing a point of care risk assessment. This is when we are assessing our treatment plans (interventions) with the patient and the environment we will be working in. Every unit, group home, or treatment room will be different and require a different setup and consideration.
- familiarizing ourselves with the necessary PPE equipment as set out by ministry and organizational guidelines. This will also include sanitizing and cleaning instruments and resources between sessions and sites. We will also continue to take extra precautions with singing – read more about singing protocols here.
- determining our pre-screening procedures. If any one of our therapists show core symptoms, tests positive for COVID-19 and/or had close contact with a person who has COVID-19, they will adhere to solation and quarantine recommendations.
- staggering our entry based on the availability of therapist, client needs, requests, and/or readiness.
- continuing with virtual sessions.
- actively participating in self-care initiatives to ensure our well-being and your safety.
What we request from our clients:
- if you exhibit any flu like symptoms we kindly ask that you please call to cancel your session.
- patience as we begin to schedule consistent in-person sessions, and virtual sessions, that meet each organization and individual needs.
