Greg Johnson is a real storm chaser – a tornado hunter. He takes photos and lives in, what I imagine, a huge state of adrenaline. After meeting Greg at the Canadian Cancer Society Conference, where I was speaking and he was taking fantastic photos, we discussed some of our favourite music. It was clear at the onset – we were musically compatible. I was absolutely delighted when he asked me to generate a set list for an upcoming storm chase.
Pre-selected music can be used for different occasions. But what happens when you try to match music to an experience you have never had before? Well you might remember that it doesn’t always go so well like when I planned music to use during the labour and delivery of my baby.
Fast forward to today… now I am planning music for a storm chase – another experience I have no first hand knowledge of. Here’s what I did…I tried to imagine my own emotional state as I drove near a big storm. I looked through Greg’s amazing photos and remembered Helen Hunt in Twister. Then I imagined what it would be like to get up close and personal with Mother Nature’s strength and determination to again prove to all of us that at the end of the day she wins.
